Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

More to come...What a GREAT DAY!!! We're all exhausted...

Dear AJ,

Dear AJ,

It's so hard for me to believe that you are already a year old. Where did the time go??? I feel like it was just yesterday that we were decorating your room and preparing for your arrival, and here we are a year later. It's bittersweet, thats for sure. It makes me so incredibly happy and proud that you've grown into this adorable, smart, curious, happy, loving and wonderful little one year old. At the same time, it makes me so sad that you're growing up too fast!

We have done SO MANY things in your first year. We've traveled to California a few times to see all of your family; we've visited the Zoo, the Childrens Museum, Little Monkey Bizness, taken swim lessons, and many other things. You've met some really wonderful friends who I'm sure you'll continue to spend time with over the years.

Being your mommy is the best job I could ever ask for. You're SUCH a happy baby boy. You always have been. I love to see the joy on your face when you play with other kids. I love how you are open to trying new things. I love that you are just the most adorable little boy ever! I love how you're becoming a little showoff and a ham :)

I love you more than you'll ever know! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Right About Now...

Right about now, LAST YEAR... Jason and I were in the hospital watching The Office on DVD doing the waiting game.... The nurse would come in every once in a while to check my meds and such.... at this point, I'm pretty sure I had my epidural and was calm and not in pain. Waiting...waiting...waiting....

(yes, I'm reliving every minute)

Getting Ready for the BIG Day..

UGH! I can't believe it! Tomorrow, AJ will be one- I'M NOT READY FOR THIS! Well, actually we're getting the house ready, but emotionally, I'm just not ready. Oh well- it's happening right?

Pop & Grammy Cory arrived last night and we're SO happy to have them here. They haven't seen AJ since April and it's been WAY too long. AJ is growing so fast these days and doing new things daily so they've got a lot to catch up on.

We've got the house clean, the food bought, the pools filled, coolers keeping the drinks cold, Jason is making the cake and the balloons on order. I'm really excited to have AJ's first birthday party tomorrow.

MANY pictures and a long video to come tomorrow :)

OH! And I just remembered that this time last year I was laying in the hospital being induced wondering WHEN AJ would make his debut...

Ok, so I don't consider this walking, but it's a few steps! (sorry, you're going to have to turn your head sideways to watch this...I wasn't thinking when I was videoing)

Due Date

I just realized that yesterday was my due date! Wow, how quickly I forget! I do remember how depressed I was that my due date came and went without baby AJ in my arms. Here are a few things I remember thinking about this time last year:

* When will this baby come???
* Will I know when I'm in labor??
* I wonder if I'll be out shopping and then my water will break- how embarrassing will that be!!
* I hope I don't have an ugly baby!
* People kept asking if I was afraid of labor, and I remember saying "well, he's coming out so I guess it doesn't matter does it?" (Oh ya...I should have been afraid..)
* Walk, walk, walk..... I went on a least 2 walks a day TRYING to get labor started
*Should I do some of those silly things I read about to get labor started?? (castor oil, raspberry tea, etc...) I didn't.
* I WISH MY DOCTOR WOULD INDUCE ME!!!
*I hope I can lose this weight!
* I wonder if I'll be able to breastfeed AJ
*PLEASE no C-section!

And this is what I looked like:

Happy Fathers Day!

Yesterday we celebrated Jason's first official Fathers Day. It was really a fun day! We got up and I made a nice breakfast, then we all played in the backyard for a bit. We got AJ a new play thing for the backyard to go along with the playhouse. It's called a Kangaroo Climber and we got it used for his birthday. These things typically run for about $170 and we got it for $50! So, Jason put it together yesterday and we all played around for a bit. There's a slide, a tunnel, a door to open and close and steps to climb.

After AJ's nap we went to the Denver Zoo which was super fun! It was really crowded because it was such a nice day, but that wasn't a problem. It was the first time that AJ actually SAW the animals. He's seen them before of course, but this time when he saw the giraffes, horses and other animals he talked to them and reached out for them. It was adorable!

On another note, we've had some big developments in our house.... Take a look:

I'm standing!

Yes, that's right! AJ is learning to stand! AND...he's taken about 5 steps ! He can stand for about 10 seconds and then he sits down and crawls. I'm trying to get a better picture or video but when he does stand or take steps, I don't want to move because I know I'll distract him :)
