Learning To Eat...

Ok, this is all so new to me! I had NEVER thought about this, but one has to LEARN how to eat with a spoon! Not only learn to open your mouth to insert the food, but also to allow your tongue to bring in the food rather than push it out! WOW- what a concept!

FOR EXAMPLE:

For 3 days now, I've been giving Anderson rice cereal at night before bed. Well, today he finally was able to keep about 60% of it in his mouth! All the other times, I'll put the spoon in his mouth with a little cereal and he'll work it out of his mouth- not because he doesn't want or like it, but because I can tell he doesn't know how to keep it in. It's the cutest thing to watch him learn what I think of as some of the simplest things- Now he's starting to open his mouth when the spoon is coming near as well; not every time, but often.

I'm so proud of my little man! (He's not that little tho..)

I love my SPOON! :)

We started on rice cereal...

Need I say more?? :)

Actually, AJ really enjoyed the rice cereal- he ate each and every bite (shocking by the look of him, I know!)- however at times I felt like there was more coming out of his mouth on the spoon than there was going in! But...he did eat it and was happy! He just really wanted to put his hands in his mouth the entire time, so today when we did it, I held his hands (which he didn't mind) and he ate even better. He only eats about a tablespoon each time and I have no idea if it's helping or not. We shall see! My hope is that eventually he'll sleep longer, but so far it's just something fun and different.

Today we braved the weather and went to the Pumpkin Patch- we were there for about 10 minutes total as it was SOOOO cold! But I had to get some pictures for AJ's first trip!

The Way He Sleeps

For many weeks now, Anderson has been sleeping in his crib- and ONLY in his crib. No more taking him onto the couch with me, or bringing him into our bed. We needed to get him used to his crib so we could all get better sleep. He still wakes me up a few times a night to eat, but after he eats- which sometimes only takes 15 minutes- he goes right back to sleep..in his crib.

Jason figured out that he likes to sleep on his stomach- scary, but he likes it and sleeps better and longer. Now though, as he is getting older and stronger, he has started scooting around his crib like crazy!

Many times a night we will put him to bed laying in the middle of his crib horizontally. Then, a few hours will go by and he'll wake up hungry and I will go into find him completely on the right side of the crib, up against it....VERTICALLY.It's crazy how he can scoot so much at this age! Again it's scary because now his face is in the corner of the crib and because he's hit himself so many times on the rungs, we do have a bumper in the bed. I'm sure he's fine because again he's so strong. It's just funny how he ALWAYS ends up there!
