AJ & Mimi

Last night, AJ I were just hanging out playing and I noticed he started playing with Mimi (Mickey Mouse). He put Mimi up on his giraffe toy and it was adorable to watch him interact with Mimi and try to show him how to use the toy. I had to grab the camera. It was so cute!

20 Month Update

Where has the time gone??? I can honestly say that it makes me so sad to think that AJ is 20 months. People keep telling me, "He's almost 2!" and they seem so excited by it. I am not. Thinking about him getting older makes me sad. Of course I am THRILLED by all of the things AJ is learning and all that he's doing. I love that we can have little conversations and that he can express himself better everyday. I enjoy trying to figure out the things he tells me- even though its constantly a guessing game. But, the thought of him not being a baby anymore just makes me sad. I think many parents feel this way.

So, what have we been up to lately??? A LOT!

AJ continues to spend one day a week with Grandma and Bop Pa. They spend the day playing with toys, or they go to Little Monkey Bizness or do other fun things. AJ really loves them and I'm so glad he's formed a great relationship with them.

One other day during the week I take AJ to Miss Jamie's house so that I can get some things done. It still works out well for us. He gets to play with other kids and I get time to do homework, clean, go to appointments or sometimes spend some time with my girlfriends.

AJ truly gets more fun as he gets older, but he also gets to be a lot more work! He's quite the handful. I'm sure most 20 month olds are. He can't figure out the difference between YES and NO- so he will tell me YES when he means no and vice versa. It's frustrating for both of us. He says a lot more words and can really understand what I am saying.  He loves to "watch" anything I do in the kitchen. He pulls over a chair and stands by the counter when I'm cooking, cleaning or emptying the dishwasher. I am learning that everything takes 2-3 times as long when he wants to "watch" because he also wants to "help". But that's ok- we have fun doing things together.

Funny story- the other day I was doing some cleaning around the house. I decided that I would dust and clean the blinds. So, I gave him a dust rag as well, so he could "help" and the entire time he just wanted me to spray more Pledge on his rag (of course I just pretended). Now, he walks around all day saying "dust? dust!" I can't wait for the day when I can actually give him a rag and he can really dust! I'm sure by then, he won't want to :)

Poor AJ has had RSV for the past few days. RSV, for those of you who don't know, is a respitory infection that can turn into something pretty bad. We caught it pretty early, but there really isn't anything we can do for it. Since it's a virus, there's no medication to make it go away. So, I've been giving him Motrin for his fever and thats about all we can do. He's got a NASTY cough- sounds like an 80 year old smoker- and a slightly runny nose, but otherwise, he's pretty happy considering. He's on the mend though, thankfully.

We've been spending almost every Tuesday night at Little Monkey Bizness lately. We both really enjoy it. I have some friends who usually go too which makes it nice. It's only $5 to play and $1 slices of pizza. Add on a tired kid at the end of the night and you can't beat that!

I am currently training for a few triathlons and my very first HALF MARATHON! I've been working out like crazy lately and really am having fun with it. It's very exciting to see and feel the changes in my body and to push myself farther than I ever have. My first triathlon is in May and I run the half marathon April 11th. So far, the farthest I've run is 8 miles so 13.1 is going to be tough! But I know I'll do it.

Lastly, we got a nice taste of Spring today! It's 52 degrees! The snow is melting! YAH!!!! I'm so sick of coats and socks and long sleeves! I'm ready for flip flops and park days!

That's all from here :)
