What to do...

So, here we are at 7 weeks and I'm not sure if it's because it's raining outside or what but I'm feeling pretty stuck in the house and I need some new things to do with Anderson. I was telling Jason last night that as much as I don't want Anderson to grow up quickly, I'm also really looking forward to when he's about 6 months or so because he'll be able to enjoy so many new things.

I'd like to be able to take him to the Children's Museum or the Denver Zoo, but it's kinda silly to do that at this point I think.

I know we've been out and about a lot since he's been born, but even I can only shop SO MUCH. We've gone for walks, read books, and have started playing with rattles and toys more often but I am sad to admit, I'm feeling kind of bored. Is that terrible of me?? I'm not bored with Anderson, just bored with the small amount of activities we can do (and enjoy) together.

Any suggestions of things to do, feel free to comment!

Oh the noises he makes...

Anderson has always made the best noises. Ever since he was first born, he's been a sort of loud baby. He grunts, and squeaks and is starting to yell! For the first few weeks of his life he would make this noise that sounded like GEEEEE and it was typically when he was hungry, so I started saying HUNGEEEE or calling him HUNGEEE. I like to call him silly names.

Well, now he has started to scream! It's crazy. When he's pissed or hungry, he does this quick SCREAM typically in or near my ear and I have to laugh at him cause it sounds so cute. When he is hungry he has started to do the pouty lip, scrunch his face all up, turn red and then he lets me have it!

The other thing about Anderson's noises is that they are LOUD- especially in the middle of the night. He grunts all night long while he's sleeping or eating and sadly it keeps Jason awake (I am already awake of course) Then, when he needs to poop it could take an hour of grunting and kicking and punching before he then settles down. He's one loud baby I tell ya!

On another note, I have decided that AJ is going to be a lot like me... He already lacks patience and is stubborn as all get out! When he's hungry- feed him! When he's dirty- change him. Don't make him wait too long or else your in big trouble! Like Mother Like Son! At least I understand it :)

Update

I figure it might be a good idea to give an update on the many things I've tried to work on with Anderson over the past few weeks:

The Baby Whisperer

I have yet to read any more of the book at this point- those darn Olympics are in the way of my reading time- however I think we're doing a good job of following it's main ideas. We're certainly not perfect at EASY (Eat, Activity, Sleep, You) but it's always on my mind. I do my best to feed Anderson every 2-3 hours. He's pretty good about waiting it out until 3 hours and I've learned that when he is upset and ready to eat but it's not time that a change of scenery is helpful. So I take him outside or we walk around. After he eats, I do my best not to let him just fall right to sleep- not always easy though. I try to bathe him, or at least change his diaper as our activity. Sleeping isn't his favorite thing to do; at least not when I want him to sleep. He has started cat napping which makes me crazy because ANY noise will wake him up and it gives me very little time to do anything - like shower. It's all a work in progress. I feel like we have some resemblance of a routine which is nice. We'll keep working on it.

Sleeping in the Crib

I have pretty much stopped trying this for now. Yesterday when he was already asleep I put him in his boppy in the crib (trying to mimic our nighttime routine) and he was NOT into it at all. It could have been the cat nap thing again as I don't quite know how this could have been so different than what we do each night, but who knows!

Taking the Bottle

We were doing pretty well with this for a while and then for some reason we stopped. I think it was because we had company and I didn't want to mess with it. Plus, Jason was so tired he wanted to go to bed the same time as me (or close) so he couldn't do the bottle. Anyway, we're back to trying the bottle. Last night he took the whole thing, and today while I was working out, Cindy (who watched him) said he fussed with it for a bit, but he ended up drinking the whole thing. We WILL get this down as my mom is coming out in September to watch him overnight (our first overnight without him!) and so he will need to be a pro by then. I know we can do it.

Sleeping Through The Night

Ya, this isn't happening. A few nights ago, I think Anderson slept 4 or 6 hours straight- LOVED IT!- but then since then we're back to being up every 2-3 hours. It's ok though- luckily most of the time he goes right back to sleep and so do I. I often think about how hard it used to be for me to fall asleep at night. I was taking Tylenol PM each night; well, not anymore! I can sleep like a champ! ha

Weight Watchers

I LOVE WEIGHT WATCHERS! Well, it certainly helps that I'm nursing too as it's burning a ton of calories. I have been doing WW for 3 weeks and have lost 6.6lbs so far. I eat a lot still and have had a few "free" nights (Fondue!) and I'm still losing! I'm also working out almost every other day. I've been running at the Rec Center- about 20-25 minutes) or swimming and today Holly & I went to the Middle School and ran stairs, did lunges, and all kinds of great things. We're going to certainly be feeling it tomorrow! I am lucky to be able to leave Anderson with Jason or have also been having a few neighbors watch him for a few hours. It's a nice break and I feel so much better!

He looks so cute sleeping! He just doesn't do it enough!

Fun Filled Weekend!

We had a really fun, friend filled weekend. Thursday I started the day with my 6 week doctors appt where he told me thankfully that I'd healed up 100% and no longer have any restrictions. I guess I can start working out? haha!

Thursday night, we had a neighborhood going away party for 2 of our great neighbors who are moving. We went next door for a pot luck and bon fire which we always enjoying doing with our neighbors. Anderson was REALLY good up until about 9pm when he was just overstimulated to the max (this wouldn't be the only time this weekend). I took him inside where he decided to vomit all over himself, me and the carpet. Can't blame him tho, I think I overfed him. Bad mommy!

Friday I was able to get a babysitter for 2 hours so I could work out. It feels so great sweating these days! I have missed it. It is taking some time to get back to my old self but I am totally ok with that. Friday night we got together again with some neighbors for pizza and just to get the weekend started. Again Anderson was great, but once we hit the wall, I headed home. This time I feel like I didn't overstimulate him as MUCH as the night before.

Saturday morning we met up with Holly & Joel and kids at the Douglas County Parade which is just in Downtown Castle Rock. It wasn't the greatest parade because there were too many political groups walking in it, however, it was a really fun time. There were hundreds of people but it had a great community feel to it. We found a great spot in the shade and AJ did wonderfully. He was awake for almost the whole time and was smiling and trying to laugh and coo.

Saturday night was more friend time! It was Domenic's 31st birthday so he and Heather and Holly & Joel came over for a night of fondue. What fun! This is the 2nd time we've done fondue at our house and it was a hit again. Steak, chicken, shrimp, veggies, cheese all followed by chocolate with wonderfully fattening things to dip! The guys all ended the night playing Rock Band while the girls did what we normally do- reminisced over old pictures.

Today we were beat so we layed around and watched the Olympics and took it easy. It was another great weekend!

He is getting SO BIG!
