Great New Toy!

So, we all know how much Anderson LOVES his car seat and how much fun it is to drive him anywhere right? :) Well, yesterday I went to Babies R Us to see about getting something, anything to help with this. I found the Fisher-Price Lil' Laugh & Learn Deluxe Auto Mirror which worked WONDERFULLY today! It's a mirror that lights up and plays music that I can attach to the seat in my car in front of AJ's car seat. The BEST part of it is that it's got a remote control that I keep up front and I can control the music and lights. I love it! And best of all, Anderson does too! Today we had to go out for a while and I just played it the entire time and he never made a peep! Who knows how long this will last, but I hope it's the start of much more enjoyable trips out of the house!

He's a happy baby...right?

I have always thought of Anderson as a happy baby. He smiles a lot, coos and plays a lot. But....I'm starting to wonder if he's really not as happy as I think???

Whenever he's around people he doesn't know, he usually cries as some point. In his little life, he's seen MANY new faces and he's typically ok for a bit, but then cries. And he's not a huge fan of new people holding him. I guess this is pretty typical.

Also, each week I take him to my friend Cindy's house and she watches him for 2 hours or so while I get some ME TIME (read: workout and hang out with Holly) Well, the past few weeks when I pick him up, I hear him crying before I even walk into her house! Last week she told me he was good and only cried about 15 minutes but today she said he slept for an hour and cried for 45 minutes! I feel so bad for him, but I also feel SO bad for Cindy! Who wants to watch a crying baby for that long???

All this makes me wonder if he really is all that happy of a baby? Or is he just happy with me? If that's the case, how do I get him happier around others because I can't be the only one who makes him happy. It's getting frustrating because we've got some plans coming up where AJ will be with a sitter and I know it's going to be hard for me to enjoy myself when all I'll be thinking about is if he's crying or not.

A good weekend

AJ, Jason & I had a nice weekend. Jason is planning to re-tile our bathroom in a few week so we went out looking for tile we both liked- always fun because it always takes a long time to finally agree on things :) Then we hit Costco and then went to an Octoberfest party at our friends house. It was really fun- we knew most of the people there and they have a BEAUTIFUL house with a HUGE yard. People were playing baseball and volleyball and the kids loved the trampoline. It made me think about the next few years when AJ will really be able to enjoy those things, rather than watch from the sidelines. AJ was really good at the party, although he had a few melt downs. I think it's a combination of seeing new people, being out of his element and being tired. All in all, he did great! It's very interesting though, being the first to leave because that was NOT the way things before pre-child :) Ahh, how life changes....

Today, Jason was invited to the Bronco game so AJ and I were on our own. We took it easy and went for a walk and then just did a few errands. He slept a lot today- probably because he was up EVERY hour last night! So, he's been happy and just playing around. We read The Cat in the Hat, which he enjoyed. I love reading to him because he just smiles at me the entire time.

So, that's what we did! Let's hope for a good upcoming week with a happy baby and lots of sleep!

Quick Update: I'm still technically on Weight Watchers, but I'm really not sticking to it. I keep telling myself "tomorrow" I'll get back to it. BUT...I am currently 10 pounds less than I was BEFORE I got pregnant, so I'm VERY happy about that! This weekend I went thru my closet and found 5 pairs of jeans that I haven't been able to wear in a LONG time and they ALL fit! YIPPPEE!!
