He's An Outdoorsman!

AJ & I are still here in California visiting Pop & Grammy Cory and we're just having a great time. It's relaxing and fun and AJ is getting to experience so many wonderful things. Anything having to do with being outside is good with him! He's REALLY into trucks and tractors right now so he gets very excited to see them pass by Pop & Grammys house. And there are a lot of them!

Yesterday we all went to a great lunch by the beach and then headed to the tide pools. It was perfect! The weather was wonderful, and we had the beach all to ourselves. AJ got down and dirty in the water; he searched for hermit crabs and even tried to eat one! YUCK! We brought him some cups so he could fill them up with water and dump them out. Over and over again. He got to play on the rocks, run across the sand and point to the waves.

When we got home, we hung out in the yard- they live on an acre- and AJ played in the grass while we all sat back and watched. He was playing with the ball, running around, picking up leaves and just doing all the fun things that boys like to do. It was so relaxing to sit there at sunset and let him do whatever he wanted.

The theme of this trip seems to be, if the sun is up and AJ is awake- he is outside and loving it!

I'll post pictures when I get home!

Pop To The Rescue!!

On Tuesday, AJ & I hopped on a plane and went to see Pop & Grammy Cory in California. We were really looking forward to our time here. It has been a year exactly since we got to come to their house and really spend some quality time together. Obviously since AJ is a year older, he's a lot more fun!

Today, Pop, AJ & I went to this great little pumpkin patch near the house and had a great tine. They had all kinds of animals for AJ to see and he was able to feed some of them as well. There were goats, pigs, chickens, sheep, miniature horses, a cow and ducks. AJ was even brave enough to feed some of the goats. I was a little scared to get too close.

After the pumpkin patch we decided to take a walk on the Avila Pier near the house. It was BEAUTIFUL! The weather could not have been better. It was clear, warm, but with a nice breeze and the water was so blue. AJ enjoyed watching all the birds and walked along the pier having a great time.

About half way down the pier there are ton sea lions that hang out on this barge in the ocean. We listened to them bark, watched them play and fight and just create a scene. Of course, AJ enjoyed this. At one point, we were watching them and their were a bunch of sea lions on the landing below us and wouldn't you know it, AJ's shoe fell off and landed on the stairs below..... I was so bummed! These were not just any shoes! They were AJ's Crocs that Pop & Grammy Cory gave him before he was born! We could see his shoe, but weren't so sure we could get it back. There was a sign posted saying that the sea lions BITE. I thought for sure one shoe was lost forever. And then.....POP TO THE RESCUE!!!

Photobucket

Pop went into the fish market on the pier to ask them if they had any ideas on how we could get this shoe back. They told him that if he's loud and yells and stomps his feet while he goes down the stairs, the sea lions should jump off the landing and into the water and he should be able to go down and get the shoe back. I wasn't so sure about this. Have you SEEN the size of a sea lion??? These guys were 500 pounds PLUS! I kept telling my dad that it just wasn't worth it. But he was determined!

And he DID IT! No problems at all. Thank goodness Pop is SOO BRAVE!!

15 Month Appointment

Today we had AJ's 15 month well check appointment and it went great...mostly.

He was in a great mood all day today- took a good nap, played hard and was just all around happy. We got to our appointment about 3:10ish for his 3:15pm appointment. He was enjoying playing in the lobby with all their toys and got the hiccups. This is not unusual. Time went on, we had to wait a little bit, and I went over to him to help him with something and all of the sudden...VOMIT...EVERYWHERE! All over my clothes, my hands, my legs, his clothes, his hands, in his shoes...just EVERYWHERE. I honestly have no idea where it all came from. He never cried, never looked or acted sick, nothing. He just looked at me with his wide eyes and said "WHOA!!!!!!" and smiled. Funniest, most disgusting moment! I still don't know why he puked, because he still feels and acts fine. Unfortunately, he came home in a shirt and diaper only. Fortunately, it was warm today :)

Other than that, the doctor said he's doing great. He is talking enough, moving around plenty, and is happy (obviously).

Here's his stats:

24.1 lbs 45th percentile
30 inches 25th percentile
His head is 48.5cm which is the 75th percentile

The things that they told me to work on are:

Brushing his teeth
Limiting the amount of milk he gets to 32oz
Not giving him milk before bedtime (this is something I started maybe a month ago- not really sure why and he doesn't NEED it)

He had 3 shots today which were really tough for him for about a minute. THEY HURT! But thank goodness for fruit snacks! They seemed to take all the pain away :)

We don't go back until late December!

Pumpkin Patch 2009

We had our first family day together in a while today and it was WONDERFUL! Jason and I have been really busy lately- well, he's been the REALLY busy one with work- and finally he got a break. We decided, since it was such a nice day, to go to Anderson Farms- a great farm about an hour away. They had a HUGE pumpkin patch, hay rides, a maize, all kinds of animals and barrel car rides. I took AJ on the barrel car ride and it was hilarious! AJ loved it but it was super painful for me. It's the smallest car ever and we hit EVERY bump in the road! SO FUNNY!

Here are some pictures from our very fun day :)
