My Soccer Guy!

AJ's been talking about playing soccer lately- probably because I've been talking about it :) So, today I decided we'd get him his first soccer ball. I told him that after his nap, we'd all go to the park and play soccer. As you can see in the picture below, he was pretty excited!

I realize when I say this that I'm his mother and of course I think he's awesome in all that he does. But seriously, he's a good kicker! He enjoyed himself at the park- the only problem was it was VERY cold. It made for a short trip to the park. I'm sure if it was a warmer afternoon, we would have been there longer.

Here's a few pictures:

A short action video:

First Movie!

I've been thinking about taking AJ to a movie theatre for a few months now, but really wasn't sure if he was old enough. He loves to watch cartoons, but this is different.

Finally, today I decided to give it a try. And he LOVED it! We went to the 10:35 showing of Gnomeo & Juliet.

On our way, I tried to explain to him what was in store. I told him that we could have popcorn (he was thrilled), that it would be dark, we could pick our own seats and that we have to be quiet. When we arrived we went to the concession stand and I ordered him a kids pack- fruit snacks, a little bag of popcorn and lemonade that all came in it's own box that he could carry. He was THRILLED! He kept thanking the guy behind the counter who served us. Then we made our way to the theatre and right away he picked his seat. Front and center :) We plopped down and got ready to enjoy the show. He was such a good boy! He was very quiet throughout the movie (in fact, he shooshed a few of the other kids who were talking loudly) and only was only a wiggle worm for a few minutes.

It was a really cute movie and such a fun experience! He's a great date!

See my kids pack?

Something to Aim For....

Ready? Set? PEE!

People keep asking me when I'm going to start potty training AJ. Or, have I given it any thought. Well, of course I have. He's 2.5 years old. But, I've also decided that 1) I can't force this child to do anything and 2) if I'm being honest, I'm just not up for it right now. I keep telling myself that he won't be in diapers forever and once he goes to preschool or daycare, peer pressure is going to get him potty trained quickly. Perhaps I'm lazy. Think what you will.

In the past week or so, AJ has started to ask to use the "big boy potty". It's great and I'm so happy when he wants to, but typically he asks just after he's pooped! It's a start I guess :)

Tonight, he wanted to use the potty and all of the sudden, I remembered other moms of boys talking about using Cheerios to get them excited about peeing in the potty. So, I ran to the kitchen and grabbed a few. I tossed them in the toilet. At first, when I explained that he could aim for them and try to pee on them he was a little confused. He wanted to eat the Cheerios :) But then...He Did It! And boy, did we throw a little potty party! I was so proud!

Wake Up Call

Lately, for some reason, AJ wakes up pretty early when he's with me (5am or so) so I quickly change his diaper, grab him, puppy and bear and we all go to my bed. I PRAY for another hour of sleep or so.

This morning was the same. When I got us all in bed (plus refilled his milk sippy cup) he did fall asleep. We were holding hands and it was so sweet. I actually wasn't able to fall back to sleep, but I loved being able to cuddle with and hold him. About 30 minutes or so later, he sits up and sees my eyes are closed and he decides to "wake me up" but ticking my arm! He said, "tickle, tickle, tickle!" (sounds more like tittle, tittle, tittle) How can I not wake up laughing at that?

He's the sweetest, nicest, most caring and loving boy :) And he is a GREAT snuggler!

Future Baseballer

I have no idea where he learned to slide- like he's sliding into home base- but he's very good at it! He can throw back his leg and give it his all! Check it out!
