Sleep! Finally!

Yep, I got sleep! For the first time in over 2 years, I slept IN! Here's the story...

Yesterday, I got some really sad news. A friend of mine, who is close in age, and is married with two young daughters found out she has cancer. At this point, I don't know too many details, but I know that it was a routine blood test that got the doctors worried- and now all of the sudden, their lives are completely turned upside down. It really got me thinking. So many times I think that my life is stressful- lack of income, being a single mom, the thought of leaving AJ to go back to work, the stress of raising a 2 year old, wondering (or worrying) constantly about our future... but all of these things are ok. All of these concerns are things that I can and will deal with. They are not life threatening and thankfully, we are healthy.

So, back to last night. When I got this news, all I wanted to do was be with AJ. I wanted to hug and kiss him and snuggle with him. Because of this, at his bed time, I decided that it would be good for us to lay in my bed and watch a movie together. It was just more time for us to be together, having fun.

I turned on his FAVORITE movie, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (which is pretty cute, and I recommend it if you have little ones) and we just hung out in bed together. I'm not sure when we fell asleep, but I do remember looking over at him at about 5am and seeing him snoozing away and I remember falling back asleep. We didn't wake up again until SEVEN FORTY FIVE!!! This absolutely NEVER happens. This kid is always up by 6:30- and it's usually more like 5:45 or 6am! I was blown away!

Made me think that co-sleeping might not be the worst thing in the world! And it also made me wonder if it's time to get him a big boy bed?

I'm so incredibly thankful that I have a healthy boy and a healthy family. It makes me sad to think that it takes something terrible in someone else's life to make me really appreciate what I have. It's something I'm going to work on. I am very lucky.

Where Does He Learn This Stuff???

Tonight, like most nights, we were watching an episode of Barney before AJ went to bed. It had something to do with camping and flashlights and stars and AJ turned to me and said, "That's awesome!" I asked him, "What did you say?" and he repeated clear as day, "That's awesome!" hahah! I was shocked! He's just way too smart!

Another cute story... Earlier in the night, AJ was eating noodles for dinner. I had them in a little bowl on the floor (I know, I know, bad mom...) and I walked away for a minute and when I came back, I saw Buster eating the noodles! I freaked a little (because any of you who know Buster, know that people food and Buster's stomach don't mix well) and yelled at him, telling him, "NO!" and as he ran away I smacked his butt. Now, looking back, I realize this wasn't the best thing to do in front of AJ, but it was my reaction. But that isn't the point. The point is, a little while later, AJ told me, "Buster, Time Out, AJ, Eat" which meant, "Buster is in timeout because he ate my food!" He amazes me...

MANY times each day he amazes me by the things he says, the sentences he puts together and just how hard he tries! Yesterday we went to watch our friends kids' baseball game. AJ knows the word "basketball" but didn't know baseball. So, on the way to the game, I told him that we were going to watch baseball. He kept calling it BASEketball...he tried and tried to pronouce it correctly, and finally he said it.. BASE...BALL... :) :) He was so proud of himself for getting it right and he had so much fun watching the game- I'm signing him up as soon as he's old enough!

Cute (Or Not So Cute) Things AJ Says...

I know I'll forget unless I write them down, so here goes:

* AJ's new favorite phrase is, "STOP IT!" which sounds a lot like "DOP IT". I hadn't heard myself say that too often, until AJ started saying it- to me and everyone else. Now, I hear myself say it a lot. UGH... Not my favorite thing...

* Last week I was taking the trash out and AJ was standing at the door to the garage- He was yelling for me, "MOM!, Mama, Mommy..." and finally I heard, "KATE!!!!!" I couldn't help but just crack up. He seriously got my attention! No, I don't want AJ growing up calling me by my first name, but I think it's cute when he chooses to use it. Plus, it sounds like "TATE!" which is adorable. Tonight, we were playing around on my bed- jumping on pillows and stuff and I was laying there for a minute and he stuck his face in mine and said, "HI TATE". Just the cutest. Even better was that he made me laugh so hard, that he couldn't stop laughing either. He's awesome :)

* AJ's best buddy is Dax. Dax's mom is Ki. AJ calls her Mommy Ki (sounds like Mommy Ti). I don't know why he always calls her that- perhaps because I always say Dax's mommy is Ki. It's sweet.

There's more- I just can't think of them right now...
