RODEO!

Today, AJ and I were lucky enough to be invited by our good friends Ki and Tim to the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver. It was SO much fun! I had been telling AJ about it for a few days so he had some idea of what we'd be doing, but it was even more fun that I imagined.

To start off, we left the house around 1pm- right smack dab in the middle of nap time. I figured this was going to make the day kind of rough, but I also thought that once we got there, AJ would be having so much fun that he'd forget how tired he was. I was right :)

When we got there, we went straight to the rodeo where we watched the bucking broncos, steer wrestling, bull riding, and some other things. (In case you didn't know it, I'm NOT a cowgirl so this is all foreign to me) AJ was totally into it for about 30 minutes. He was a bit concerned though during the steer wrestling. He asked what they were doing and I explained it and he said "Well, that's not very nice!" I have to agree... But heck, it was entertaining!

Then, when he got bored, we went over to the HUGE John Deere tractor display where they allowed all the kids to climb all over all of the tractors. He was seriously in heaven. Here's a cute picture of him and Daxie playing (or fighting over who gets to be the driver):

I love their matching cowboy shirts :)

After we spent about 45 minutes playing with the tractors we decided to go over to the Stock Show- which was this other HUGE arena with so much to do. We probably only saw about 1/4 of it. They had this great kid area with a playground, a ride on train, pony rides, horrible carnival food and a petting zoo. It was awesome and AJ had a blast! He was SUCH a good boy and always stayed with me, holding my hand. They were of course selling tons of souvenirs and AJ asked for a few things and when I told him no, his response was "Oh....next time." Love that attitude! We did share a funnel cake which AJ loved. I haven't had one in about 10 years and I'm sure it'll be another 10 before my next one. But he enjoyed it and it was a special treat.

We didn't end up leaving until almost 6pm which meant all day with only about 30 minutes rest. We are both exhausted, but it was another awesome time and a memory I will always cherish with my boy! Thank you Ki, Tim, Daxie and Baby Skylar for the invite! You guys are the best!

Riding the train!
