Yes, it is that time in the Lewicki House- time to baby proof! Since AJ is EVERYWHERE and discovering new things in our house on an hourly basis, we have decided the time is now. AJ is into cords, banging on the fireplace, opening and shutting drawers, crawling into the shower, and pulling himself up on the coffee table and dragging ANYTHING within reach onto the floor. It's really quite funny to look around our house and realize it doesn't belong to us anymore- it belongs to AJ!
We have to make sure anything on the coffee table is in the middle of the table, put anything that we'd normally just leave on the floor (shoes, etc) up on the couch, close doors and get everything that could be a potential hazard out of his reach.
Yesterday, I went to Target and got 4 gates ($$$) for our house. Since we've got 2 sets of stairs we have to block him from each set and also from our dining/living room area. I also got more outlet covers (we have SO many outlets in this house!) and more locks for our cabinets. Now that AJ found out how to open the Tupperware cabinet, he's figured out he can open ANY of them- smart kid! Jason has a big job ahead of him this weekend getting all of this stuff in place :)
I have come to the realization that our house will not look so pretty for a while, but at least it'll be safe! (I hope!)

Ugh....this is the stage I've been dreading for so long. The "ugly house" stage. LOL. We will be doing this soon too...Preston finally started crawling yesterday. Well, he's not zooming around yet but I think within afew days he will be.
I totally know what you mean about them getting into EVERYTHING though. Don't they have the best grabbers? Preston grabs things SO quickly I'm like 'How did you get that?" and his reach is long too. I will put things out of his way and he still reaches it. DETERMINATION!
